Zeist,André R; Resende,Juliano TV de; Pozzebon,Bruna C; Gabriel,André; Silva,Alex Antônio da; Zeist,Ricardo Antônio.
ABSTRACT Considering the aforementioned information, the objective was to evaluate the influence of combining techniques of solarization, biofumigation with chicken manure and grafting on the incidence of bacterial wilt and productivity of the hybrid tomato ‘Absoluto’. Two experiments were carried out in a chapel-type greenhouse and in field, in the agricultural year 2013/2014, in a commercial farm on the municipality of Barra do Rio Azul-RS. In the two cultivation environments, treatments were arranged in randomized block experimental design, with the plots subdivided into space and treatments randomly arranged, in an area naturally infested with race 1, biovar 1, phylotype II of R. solanacearum. The treatments were soil solarization, biofumigation,...

Zeist,André R; Giacobbo,Clevison L; Silva Neto,Gentil F da; Zeist,Ricardo A; Dorneles,Keilor da R; Resende,Juliano TV de.
ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the compatibility, gas exchange and yield of tomato cultivar Santa Cruz Kada, susceptible to bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum) when grafted on different Solanaceae species. Rootstock sources were the mini-tomato RVTC-66, Cayenne pepper, Jerusalem cherry (Solanum pseudocapsicum), sticky nightshade (Solanum sisymbriifolium), and cultivar Santa Cruz Kada itself (self-grafting). Two materials were tested to promote the union between rootstocks and scions: grafting clips and biodegradable tape (Parafilm). Grafting success index (GSI) was evaluated and, for treatments using biodegradable tape, grafting incompatibility, gas exchange, agronomic characteristics and bacterial wilt epidemiology were assessed...

Phenology and agronomic components of first and second-cycle strawberry Horticultura Brasileira
Zeist,André R; Resende,Juliano TV de; Lima Filho,Renato B; Gabriel,André; Henschel,Juliane M; Silva,Israel FL da.
ABSTRACT Several strawberry growers have cultivated the same plants for two consecutive cycles aiming a greater economic return after seedling transplant. However, the phenological development and the agronomic potential of second-cycle strawberry have to be estimated. This research was installed to estimate the thermal need, leaf appearance rate, phyllochron and yield of strawberry cultivars in two consecutive crop cycles in the region of the Third Planalto Paranaense. Cultivars Camarosa, Camino Real, Albion, Aromas, Monterrey and San Andreas were evaluated in the first and second growing cycles using completely randomized blocks and four replications. Leaf appearance rate was estimated by linear regression coefficient between the number of leaves and the...

Phenotypic stability of strawberry cultivars based on physicochemical traits of fruits Horticultura Brasileira
Gabriel,André; Resende,Juliano TV de; Zeist,André Ricardo; Resende,Luciane V; Resende,Nathalia CV; Zeist,Ricardo Antônio.
ABSTRACT Strawberry shows genetic variability between cultivars and, environmental elements affect the physicochemical traits of fruits when assessed under different environments. So, assessment of the stability of physicochemical traits is a tool that assists the producer in the choice of the cultivar with higher acceptance in the consumer market. This study aimed to assess the stability of strawberry cultivars based on physicochemical traits of fruits on three environments using the additive main effects with multiplicative interaction (AMMI) analysis. Thirteen strawberry cultivars were assessed in Lavras-MG, Uberlândia-MG, and Guarapuava-PR. The experimental design was in blocks with treatments at random and four replications. The stability of...

Resistance of processing tomato genotypes to leafminer (Tuta absoluta) Horticultura Brasileira
Dias,Diego M; Resende,Juliano TV de; Zeist,André R; Gabriel,André; Santos,Matheus H; Vilela,Nathalia C.
ABSTRACT Tomato crop presents several obstacles that hinder its cultivation, especially the tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae). To reduce damages caused by this pest, the development of resistant cultivars is one of the main alternatives. In this study we aimed to select tomato genotypes with high acylsugar contents and resistant to tomato leafminer. For this, contrasting F2RC1 genotypes for allelochemical contents, resulting from the interspecific cross between cultivar Redenção with processing characteristics, and the wild species Solanum pennellii accession ‘LA-716’, with high acylsugar contents, were submitted to a test of resistance to tomato leafminer with 14 treatments, being eight genotypes with high acylsugar content and...

Resistance of tomato genotypes to the silverleaf whitefly mediated by acylsugars Horticultura Brasileira
Resende,Juliano TV de; Maluf,Wilson R; Cardoso,Maria das Graças; Gonçalves,Luciano Donizete; Faria,Marcos V; Nascimento,Ildon R do.
Acylsugars in the leaflets of the wild accession LA-716 (Lycopersicon pennellii) gives resistance to Bemisia spp., which causes expressive losses to the tomato crop. The goal of this work was to evaluate the resistance to the silverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci biotype B) of previously selected genotypes, based on the level of acylsugars in the leaflets. F2BC1 plants {F2[Lycopersicon esculentum TOM 584 x (L. esculentum TOM 584 x L. pennellii LA-716)]} were selected for extreme contents of acylsugars: BPX-370B pl#30-275, BPX-370B pl#79-278, BPX-370B pl#30-380, BPX-370B pl#25-271 (high contents), BPX-370B pl#30-02, BPX-370B pl#30-142 (low contents). These genotypes, along with the parents TOM 584 and LA-716, were submitted to a silverleaf whitefly...

Marodin,Josué C; Resende,Francisco V; Resende,Juliano TV de; Gabriel,André; Zeist,André R; Constantino,Leonel V; Sanzovo,Alisson WS.
ABSTRACT Studies on the interaction between garlic plant density and virus-free seed size are scarce in Brazil. Thus, this study was installed to evaluate the effect of plant spacing and seed size on garlic traits and yield for infected and virus-free bulbs. Treatments were arranged in a randomized block design and 2x5x3 factorial combination [infected and virus-free bulbs, five plant spacings (210, 260, 300, 360, and 390 cm2 per plant), and three bulbous seed sizes (sieve one, two, and three)]. The highest bulb yield was observed for virus-free seeds at a plant spacing of 390 cm2 plant-1, while the highest commercial yield was verified for 210 cm2 plant-1 spacing. The combination of virus-free seeds, larger bulbs, and 332 cm2 plant-1 spacing promoted the...
